Since their start in 1990 “Thunder Road” has been  entertaining audiences with their variety song list and stage show.  They are a versatile group who perform many styles of music including old to new country, 50’s/60’s, classic rock and new rock. They can mix it up or stay in one style depending on what the crowd requests. Throw in their comical stage antics, along with good production, and they present a show that has something for all ages to enjoy.

Founding guitarist and lead vocalist Kerry Ness, Bismarck, ND, is a two time male vocalist winner of the  North Dakota Country Western Jamboree.  He is originally from Scranton, ND and cut his musical teeth in various road bands before teaming up with drummer Chad Abel, Lemmon SD to form the first “Thunder Road” in 1990. 

Ness was living in Dickinson at the time and Abel was attending DSU. Abel has played with bands that have shared the stage with Tim McGraw, Doug Stone and Mark Chestnut.  His out-on-floor, duck-walking, table and chair playing version of “Wipeout” is always a crowd favorite. Bassist Wade Blend, Hettinger, ND was a member of the Can-Am Jamboree best band “Rangler” before joining “Thunder Road” in 1992. He is a founding member of the North Dakota Songwriters Association and served as it’s president from 1994 -1996. His harmonies and zany stage antics were a natural fit to complete the group’s current lineup.
